As an organization Sigma Kappa encourages our members to be involved in their campus and community. Because of this focus on involvement outside of Sigma Kappa, our sisters are able to engage with the campus and community in ways that are important to them by hosting and participating in a number of different events.

Sisterhood Retreats:

Sisterhood retreats are a great way to strengthen bonds and lasting memories between sisters. We have one every Fall and Spring term, and it's a great way to continue to build those bonds and memories with your sisters. This past Fall, we travelled up towards Portland and had a great day doing different ropes courses, zip lines and sisterhood activities that really helped our newest member class feel more connected with the rest of the chapter. Together, the Sisterhood chairman, her committee, and the Vice President of Programming put together the different workshops and activities that we do at each retreat.

Sisterhood Events:

Throughout each term, we have a variety of different sisterhood events. Whether it's a Bachelor or Bachelorette watch party in the lounge, a day at the pumpkin patch, a spa night during midterms, or secret Santa, these are small events that really solidify our value of sisterhood.

Each term, we have some sort of formal. Fall term we have our annual barn dance, where our chapter rents out a barn for the night. Winter and Spring term we also have formals with varying themes. This year's past themes have been Sigmas in Wonderland and A Night in Vegas. Expect a night full of dancing, photos and great live music from the DJ!

Scholarship Banquet/Point Party:

With our value of personal growth in mind, each term we get to celebrate both the chapter and member achievement in academics and participation. With our scholarship banquet, the Vice President of Academic Excellence and her committee of mentors recognize members based on their academic achievements from the previous term. Each member is awarded different tiers of achievement from the previous term complete with prizes like apparel, face masks and stickers and lots of yummy snacks and desserts. At the Point Party, the Vice President of Communications and Operations puts together a pizza and dessert party to recognize the members who have earned points 80% of our total chapter's point average.

Parent's Weekends:

Sigma Kappa hosts a Dad's Weekend Fall Term and a Mom's Weekend during Spring Term with various activities. Some past activities have included going to a football game, going wine tasting at a nearby winery, and even renting out a movie theater!

Our chapter has socials with other chapters in the Greek Community. These events range from decorating gingerbread houses to karaoke nights to athletic competitions. The socials also have fun themes, such as pajama party or Skype interview.
