Sigma Kappa

As an organization Sigma Kappa encourages our members to be involved in their campus and community. Because of this focus on involvement outside of Sigma Kappa, our sisters are able to engage with the campus and community in ways that are important to them by hosting and participating in a number of different events.

Sisterhood Retreats:

Sisterhood retreats are a great way to strengthen bonds and lasting memories between sisters. Our fall retreat involved heading up near Portland for a day of fun activities and hanging out at a heated pool while our winter retreat included renting out an entire bowling alley for two hours.

Mini-Sisterhood Events/Intramurals:

The chapter also holds several mini sisterhood events each term. Some of our mini-sisterhood events include Secret Santa/Valentine, spa nights, karaoke, pumpkin patch outings and movie nights. Our chapter has also participated in some of the intramural sports offered at the University of Oregon.

Our chapter's formals occur once a semester. Fall term we have our annual barn dance, where our chapter rents out a barn for the night. Winter and Spring term we also have formals with varying themes, such as The Final Rose, Snowball and Sigma Krown. All of our formals have a Photo Booth and live DJ.

Scholarship Banquet/Point Party:

Each semester those who achieve 80% or more attendance points in our point system are invited to a point party. These events feature prizes and snacks, such as donuts or pizza. Our scholarship banquets feature rewards for those who achieved over a 3.0 GPA the previous term, as well as food.

A few times throughout the school year our chapter has themed photoshoots. These are fun opportunities to create lasting memories while getting cute photos with sisters. The majority of our photoshoot themes are color or season related. For instance, we have had Valentine's Day, autumn colors and Duck gear photoshoots.

Dad's and Mom's Weekends:

Sigma Kappa hosts a Dad's Weekend Fall Term and a Mom's Weekend during Spring Term with various activities. Some past activities have included going to a football game, going wine tasting at a nearby winery, and mini golfing.

Our chapter has socials with other chapters in the Greek Community. These events range from decorating gingerbread houses to karaoke nights to athletic competitions. The socials also have fun themes, such as pajama party or Skype interview.

On top of Greek Community socials, our chapter is also having a Date Dash this semester. One of the date dashes is Dynamic Duo themed and taking place at a local arcade. Another date dash we have this semester includes pool volleyball, basketball obstacle courses and a hot tub.
